Propulsion/Engine Insurance
With E/M/S, our customers play it safe when it comes to the propulsion/engine of their yacht! E/M/S propulsion/engine insurance.
E/M/S offers in cooperation with a partner, specialised in yacht & ship insurance, cover for damage to the engine of your yacht, which can be caused, for example, by piston seizure & Co.
The propulsion system is the so-called heart of every motor-driven watercraft and indispensable for movement at sea.
Damage to the engine system, not covered by yacht hull insurance, such as internal operating damage, can be associated with considerable financial costs for repair.
Even when buying a used motorboat/yacht, the inclusion of machinery insurance gives you a good feeling of security.
What is covered in addition to the “normal” yacht hull insurance?
Scope of the insurance cover
Machinery insurance is a coverage extension of the yacht hull conditions to protect against the financial consequences of machinery damage.
Insurance cover is provided for up to 120 months after completion of the yacht with petrol engines.
Insurance cover is provided for up to 180 months after completion of the yacht with diesel engines.
For used yachts younger than 120 months (petrol engines) or 180 months (diesel engines), a worthwhile additional insurance option!
Partial damage
In the event of partial damage, the insurer will reimburse the costs of restoration. In the event of partial damage, the restoration costs include, in addition to the actual repair costs without deductions “new for old”, all installation and removal costs of the insured object, the land and sea transport of the spare parts required for the repair and the costs incurred by work on the boat and for craning the boat.
Total loss
In the event of total loss, a deduction will be made for new parts (restoration costs – e.g. all installation and removal costs of the insured object, the land and sea transport of the spare parts required for repair and the costs incurred by work on the boat and for craning the boat remain unaffected by this) in accordance with the age of the objects to be replaced with deductions according to the table.
Obligations
The machinery must have been regularly maintained by a specialist company in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions.
Furthermore, the obligations of the comprehensive insurance conditions apply.
In addition to the E/M/S oil lubricant check or the computer diagnosis for marine engines, the prerequisite for taking out a propulsion/engine insurance policy is proof that the machinery has been regularly maintained by a specialist company in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions.
We will be happy to provide you with further details on taking out such an insurance policy in a personal conversation.
